About Sam

Sam Barker is a highly acclaimed photographer and director, represented on both sides of the Atlantic. His distinctive cinematic lighting style and atmospheric compositions have made him one of the most sought-after photographers working today, with multiple awards to his name including a D&AD Yellow Pencil and several AOP awards for portraiture.

His work has been commissioned by Apple, British Airways, American Express, Hugo Boss, the BBC, Glenfiddich, Land Rover, Shell and Sky, photographing subjects as varied as Prince William and Lewis Hamilton to tribal chiefs in Africa and drag queens in Manila. He is a regular contributor to the National Portrait Gallery, with 14 portraits in the permanent collection - among them David Attenborough, photographed for his 90th birthday.

These sessions exist because the questions that move a photographer forward are rarely technical alone - they're about taste, confidence, direction and how you put a body of work in front of the right people. Sam mentors directly and honestly, with the practical detail that actually changes your next shoot.
